Wage Incentive Program!
Helping Cut Costs Associated With Hiring A New Employee:
The Boundary Wage Incentive Program offers an incentive to employers who create long-term employment prospects for individuals who are facing labour market difficulties. The program is available to EI eligible individuals who´s best opportunity for returning to work is through job skills enhancement.
Eligible Employees:
To be eligible for the Boundary Wage Incentive Program the potential employee must:
- Be presently unemployed or under-employed
- Have received EI in the past 3 years or Maternity / Parental Benefits in the past 5 years
- Be re-entering the workforce
- Be facing labour market difficulties
Potential employees are required to make an appointment with a member of the Employment Services Team to determine eligibility for the program.
Eligible Employers:
To meet the requirements of the program, the employer must be willing to:
- Provide the employee with a minimum of 35 hours per week
- Provide the employee with the opportunity to gain marketable skills
- Offer the employee the potential for long-term employment
How The Program Works:
Employers may be reimbursed on average 50% of the wages an employee receives for the duration of the contract. A Boundary Wage Incentive contract ranges between 12 - 24 weeks in duration. Each contract is designed and based on individual needs.
