Self-Employment Benefit (SEB) Program Application Process!

The Required Steps To Start The Process:

How To Start Your Application Process

  • Meet with an Employment Assistance Services Counsellor (Service provided in Grand Forks and Greenwood offices).
  • Complete a Back to Work Action Plan.
  • Referral to SEB Coordinator and registration in a Business Plan workshop.
  • Attend the SEB Orientation and a Business Plan Workshop.

Assistance and guidance in preparing the application documents will be provided by SEB staff.

Business plan assistance provided.

Prepare your business plan with appropriate appendices including three years cash flow and other financial projections, letters of support/intent, copies of major lease/purchase agreements and submit the plan to the SEB Coordinator/Counsellor with the application documents in the specified timelines.

SEB Coordinator/Counsellor will submit your application and business plan to the Committee at the next regularly scheduled meeting (Committee meets monthly).

Approval for funding is not guaranteed.

Program Acceptance Criteria - Click To Open/Close

  • Viability of the business idea
  • Realistic financial projections
  • Competent management
  • Experience related to the venture
  • Local job creation or maintenance
  • Location of the business in the Boundary region
  • Reasonable personal financial investment
  • **Ability to repay
  • **Adequate security for the venture

If approved, meet with SEB Coordinator/Counsellor to process contract and other necessary program documentation.

If declined, re-work and re-submit your business plan to SEB Coordinator/Counsellor for presentation at the next regularly scheduled Committee meeting.
