The Boundary Economic Development Committee (BEDC) was formed by the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary to assist the Boundary Region in finding grass roots solutions to their common economic problems. In this role as leader and facilitator of effective community economic development, the BEDC strives to be proactive and strategic, promote change and long term sustainability and increase community involvement, capacity and empowerment in all local initiatives. The BEDC has been in existence for 16 years and in 2008 formed a partnership with Community Futures Boundary. Currently, the committee consists of six elected officials from the geographical regions they serve (Christina Lake, Greenwood, Grand Forks, Midway, Area E and Area D).
